Local Postcards
Apparently in 2017 only 3% of holiday makers sent postcards back home, compared with 27% forty years ago. The demise of the humble postcard has largely been due to social networking which cannot be  beaten for speed and with one click a message can be sent to all family, friends, neighbours and followers. In days gone by, however, postcards were today's e-mails, arriving within a few days bearing cryptic notes on the weather, safe arrival, days on the beach and much more.  Most were sent to friends and relatives from far distance holiday destinations such as Bognor or Brighton. Cities, towns and even villages had their own collection of postcards with local views for sale to passing travellers.  Tillington was no exception and as time goes by more and more of these old cards seem to be finding their way back to the Parish. A selection of these treasured cards, held by the archives, is shown on this page.  If you have any postcards relating to the Parish of Tillington we would be very grateful to receive copies or donations of the originals.
